Trading Farm Tools for Adventure
If you spent hundreds of hours in Stardew Valley ignoring your crops just to dive deep into the underground mines, you are in luck. Eric Barone, the solo developer famously known as ConcernedApe, has shared fresh details about his upcoming game, Haunted Chocolatier. While the game still features a friendly town full of quirky neighbors, Barone revealed that it leans heavily into action-packed exploration.
In this mystical new adventure, you play as a confectioner living in a spooky castle who must gather rare ingredients to craft magical chocolates. But instead of quietly harvesting parsnips on a tranquil farm, you will spend much of your time venturing into mysterious labyrinths to collect your cooking supplies. Barone explained that he designed this title specifically for fans who loved the mining gameplay loop in his previous hit.
A Whole New Style of Action
Unlike the simple mechanics of Stardew Valley, Haunted Chocolatier is being built from scratch as an action RPG (role-playing game). Here are a few exciting features players can look forward to:
- Shields and blocking: Players can time defensive blocks to temporarily stun aggressive creatures and create openings for quick counter-moves.
- Diverse gear options: You will discover various tools and special abilities that let you customize how you navigate underground chambers.
- Exploration-driven crafting: Finding wild ingredients and clearing tricky puzzle rooms rewards you with unique flavors to use in your sweet recipes.
Barone wants to ensure the game feels punchy, satisfying, and deep before announcing any official release date. Do you prefer relaxed farming or active dungeon diving when you play cozy games?
