A fourth world is coming

For more than 14 years, Minecraft has had three dimensions: the Overworld where you start, the fiery Nether and the mysterious End. At the Minecraft Live show in September 2026, Mojang (the studio that makes the game) announced a fourth one: The Sift.

A "dimension" in Minecraft is a separate world with its own blocks, creatures and rules. Adding a whole new one is a huge deal, and players have been asking for it for years.

Why everyone is talking about it

  • It is the first new dimension in over 14 years.
  • From what Mojang showed, it is seriously pink, so it looks nothing like the dark Nether or the empty End.
  • The Sift first appeared in Minecraft Dungeons II, and now it is coming to the main game.

When can you play it?

Mojang says The Sift will arrive next year in both Minecraft Bedrock Edition and Java Edition. There is no exact date yet, so for now all we can do is guess what we will find there.
